Toohey Services focuses on website design, improvements, and online visibility for small businesses. These guidelines explain the kinds of projects I don't accept and the requests I need to review before quoting.
Projects I don't accept
These requests fall outside my services, even when the website itself might be simple to build.
1. Medical and patient-data websites
I don't build or maintain websites for medical or healthcare practices or patient services, including sites that collect, store, or transmit patient health information. Depending on the project, this work may involve HIPAA or other privacy, security, and regulatory requirements that I do not offer services to address.
2. Illegal or fraudulent activities
I don't knowingly build websites intended to facilitate unlawful activity, scams, fraudulent schemes, or impersonation of another person or business.
3. Fake reviews or misleading claims
I won't create or publish fabricated reviews or testimonials, false endorsements, invented credentials, or results claims presented as proven without reasonable supporting evidence. If an existing page needs corrections, I can help replace misleading wording with accurate content.
4. Stolen or unauthorized content
I won't knowingly publish copied text, photographs, logos, videos, or other materials without permission or another valid legal basis to use them. I may ask you to confirm ownership, licensing, or permission before including materials on your site.
5. Deceptive or harmful website features
I don't build phishing pages, features intended to steal login details, malicious code, deceptive lead forms, or systems designed to collect personal information without appropriate authorization or disclosure.
If you want to replace inaccurate claims, remove unlicensed content, or correct a misleading page, that kind of cleanup may be a project I can help with.
Projects I review case by case
Some projects require an individual review before I can quote them. Examples include regulated products or services, collection of sensitive customer information, complex payment systems, specialized security needs, or ongoing support outside my normal packages.
If the project involves regulatory, legal, privacy, or specialized security requirements outside my services, I may ask you to work with an appropriately qualified specialist or decline that portion of the work. I don't provide legal advice or certifications that a website meets industry-specific regulatory requirements.
Projects I can help with
Most of my work is for local service businesses, independent professionals, and small businesses that need a clear, useful website. Common projects include:
- Custom websites for contractors, painters, landscapers, groomers, and other local businesses.
- Websites and portfolios for artists, creatives, and independent professionals outside the exclusions above.
- Squarespace website setup, redesigns, and agreed maintenance or optimization work.
- Website makeovers, repairs, and improvements to existing pages.
- Local SEO, Google Business Profile assistance, and analytics setup within an agreed scope.
- Small online stores where the products sold, platform, and technical requirements fit my services.
Custom projects are quoted according to their scope. Listed packages include only the deliverables described on the applicable service page or in our written agreement. Website or visibility services do not guarantee particular search rankings, traffic, leads, or sales.
Before placing an order
Please review the relevant package description and these guidelines before ordering. For a custom quote, tell me what your business does, what you need the website to do, whether it will collect sensitive information, and whether you need specialized features. I'll confirm the proposed scope and price with you before accepting a custom project.
If an order turns out to be outside the services I offer, I'll contact you to discuss the options. If we can't proceed, I'll reconcile any payment according to the applicable Terms of Service, our written agreement, and applicable law, including refunding any unearned amount as required. A change to these guidelines won't retroactively change an existing agreement.
I consider project content, scope, and technical requirements, not protected personal characteristics. If you're unsure whether your project fits, send me the details before ordering.
